I had stayed up for three days straight trying to find the problem with Scientology tech, on why this woman attempted to take her life.
Meanwhile, Marty Rathbun came into my office multiple times a day, and all he EVER said to me was “What are you going to DO about it?!?!?”
It became downright creepy. He’d wait for whatever answer I had, then walk out. I didn’t know if he was satisfied with the answers I gave him or not.
One thing was for sure: I could not find any out tech in those files. At least nothing major.
So I went ahead and requested her other files: Central Files (which is the letter writing department) and ethics files.
Meanwhile, Paul Laquerre had finally gotten William to fly back to Los Angeles.
I found something in the woman’s ethics file, and it was huge. At least in the Scientology world it was.
She had done some trading that was illegal, something that she should be going to jail for. And that money was used to pay for her auditing.
That was enough. It was all I had anyway.
In comes Marty, with the same question. Not to demean the seriousness of the situation, but this repeat statement could be made into a rap song. I kinda got sick of hearing the same question over and over and over.
So here he comes…. “What are you going to DO about it?”
I told him William was on his way back and Paul was going to get him to marry the woman, with the threat of an SP declare if he refused. I told him about the criminal activity of the woman, and that we would not be doing any auditing on her because of it. She had not been allowed back on property since her attempt.
Marty said “Good! Over to you.”
And that was that.
William landed, Paul convinced him that the woman did not want anything from him, just the marriage on paper. He did not need to be part of her or the baby’s life. She just had to be married to deliver the child.
William agreed, married her on paper, and flew back to Hawaii. And she went back to Taiwan.
So it was the woman’s fault, not Scientology. And it was her regges fault for taking in her money. Of course the reg got in trouble too. But once again, it wasn’t Scientology auditing tech that was at fault.
We left a note in her file that she could not get any more auditing until this illegal activity was resolved.
And no, of course we didn’t give the money back. That was her problem.
Sigh. It was over. Flap averted. Time for me to finally get some sleep.
Then I would come back to post and write up my Liability formula (I’d been assigned this ethics condition by my senior for this fiasco) and pass it around to all the staff and beg them to let me be part of the group again.
Yes, the logic escapes me too. I am amazed at how much illogic I put up with while in the Sea Org.
I am, however, very glad we were able to save this baby.
O.M.G. I know this is real, but it just hits me harder every time I red this total shit. YOU got in trouble because someone else stole money and became suicidal. YOU were punished because of someone else’s problems. Yep. Someone always has to take the fall. Scientology is always about punishing, not about helping. How much more clearly can it be spelled out than this story?
Gotta love how the church took her money even though she came by it illegally. It’s not the first time I’ve heard of this church MO. They don’t care about anything but money. If something like a suicide attempt happens, it’s a “flap” because it makes them look bad. No care about the suicidal person, the guy who didn’t want to marry her, or her unborn child. I’m so sorry this all fell on you. I’m also glad you made it out to tell the story.
