Yeah so finally the interrogations were done! And they still got nothing out of me, ‘cause it was none o’ dey damn bidness!
They wanted me to sign papers next. Alex Duvall, security henchman, brought me the first draft of what they wanted me to sign.
Oh hell no. I didn’t want to sign anything at all. He explained that I needed to sign for me to be able to get the severance pay. See, I COULD just leave if I wanted. In fact, I was free to go at any time.
Yeah, but I was so broke remember I had to borrow 20 cents to make a phone call?
I didn’t want to leave completely penniless.
Ok dang it, I’ll look over the papers and let him know.
I read through all of it and used a pen to scratch out 80-90 percent of that BS.
It said stuff like “I enjoyed my time in Scientology”, “I knew Scientology was the only road out”, “Scientology made me realize XYZ”. Oh hell no.
I didn’t want to sign any of that. No and nope.
Finally after several back and forth re-tries, Duvall finally told me that all they wanted was for me to sign that I released Scientology from any liability.
Whatever dude, just hand over the money and let me out.
Meanwhile my mom was still showing up daily to talk to me. She had conversations with me about what I should tell my family. She also told me what I was supposed to do in regards to which funerals (when they die) I would go to, and which she would go to. At the time this conversation with her made perfect sense to me. But looking back now, it was insane.
My mother also agreed to buy my Scientology meter from me for $1500, which was her way of helping me get a decent start. That was nice of her.
One morning Duvall cane to me and said we were going for a ride.
We got in a van and went to the management building on Hollywood and Ivar. I got to go to the main OSA office and sign my “release” in front of their Scientology lawyer. Yeah, yeah, whatever, let me go.
After signing those documents, they couldn’t get rid of me fast enough.
I was immediately brought to the train station where they sent me off the Saint Lous, Mo, where an SP declared couple were willing to take me in.
A whirlwind day that started boring as hell ended with me on a train, forever away from what had been my entire life for the previous 32 years.
I was moving into making my own future now, for the first time in my life.
True Freedom.
