Christmas in the Sea Org
No , I don’t have too many dogs. I do, however, have four dogs.
From the left: Mickey, then Mocha, then Ripley. In the back is Honey. All my rescues.
I try to find a photo for each story but sometimes I don’t have one for my days back in the Sea Org.
Therefore, you meet my dogs!
Anyway, Christmas in the Sea Org is the same idea every year, at least as far as I knew.
Normally all Sea Org members could chose to be off either Christmas Day or New Years Day, but not both.
Sucks, yeah, but saving the world doesn’t take a day off, so we were lucky to get that.
Christmas Eve always had what was called the “Beer and Cheese Party”. It was something Hubbard had written in the Apollo days and had become an annual tradition.
Because Hubbard wrote it, it was of course something that was always done. And the orgs paid for it. And yes, it was just beer and cheese.
We normally did Kris Kringle in the days leading up to Christmas. Christmas Eve is when we reveal ourselves as the Kris Kringles and give our final gifts.
Then, as per Hubbard, we all partied with beer. Many, many Sea Org members stayed up all night partying. It was the only night of the year it was allowed, after all.
Something about it never made any sense to me, and that is that because Sea Org members never drink or take any medications all year, they are super lightweights when it comes to drinking.
And so here would be hundreds of people drunk on their derrières once a year.
And remember, any Sea Org member who is unmarried is not allowed any sexual relations. It’s a strict rule.
So all these unmarried Sea Org members are brought together and loaded with alcohol once a year.
And today, the 26th of December, is when everyone is back on post, and yup, you guessed it, people went “out-2D”. What does that mean?
They had sex or even just heavy petting, while unmarried.
So, every December 26th there was a slew of Sea Org members who would be busted and sent to the RPF, the Sea Org gulag program, where they got to spend a couple years wearing black, running everywhere, not allowed to talk to anyone outside the program, getting interrogations and interrogating others. And yeah, no Beer and Cheese party on the RPF.
It was inevitable, every year after Christmas, Sea Org members getting marched over to the gulag program.
I feel the need, in a strange sense, to have a moment of silence for those poor Sea Org members working so hard ending up in so much trouble just for having fun one night.
Here’s to you, the Sea Org members who worked so hard all year only to end up on the RPF anyway. I will remember you today. You deserve to be recognized not only for your sins, but your good acts as well!
