Children of Sea Org members get banned from most Scientology properties
The 80’s were a tough time to be a Sea Org child. Scientology itself, especially the Sea Org base in big blue were still trying to get organized.
Assigning people to be nannies or to watch over the Sea Org kids was an often forgotten task.
And so the kids of the 80’s raised themselves (as did many other Sea Org kids from other time periods…. But I’m specifically talking about the 80’s here).
People joining the Sea Org with children would be told there would be someone to watch their child while they were full time in the Sea Org, often not in the same city or state. Concerned Sea Org parents would either put their foot down and leave with their children or demand of their children to keep their ethics in, without finding out what the actual problem was that we were dealing with.
For a period of time, we would have someone watching over us, making sure we did schooling and learned Scientology, but more often than not the nannies would be either taken away for another urgent posting or the nannies would leave the Sea Org. And the kids would roam LA, free of any supervision.
For a time we could go into big blue. And that made things easy for us because that was where the food was served from.
But then we were ordered not to go to big blue. No kids. And a person would be assigned to us again, and we would all stay at the ATA, a building down the street that is now used for storage.
Then another nanny gone and we would be loose again. And with no way to eat.
And what had we been taught by Scientology? Well, communication, ethics, and that we had lived before. We were adults in small bodies.
If there was no one to supervise us, we were on our own. We were supposed to be adults, but we didn’t know how. Our young bodies were nothing more than a huge problem. For ourselves and for Scientology. We couldn’t grow up fast enough.
What did they expect to happen when they kicked all the children off the base? Well, we were no longer their problem?
They even locked up the parking structure because we would all hang out there and that was also bad.
(The parking structure)
We had to find ways to survive.
We would climb up the outside of the parking structure, all the way up four stories and then go open a stairway door for all the kids to join. Then we would share cigarettes or cloves and smoke them. The kids ranged from 5 to 16 years old.
Then security would chase us off and we would roam LA.
Then we would all get rounded up and told we were out ethics and then someone would be assigned to watch over us. We would have regular meals again and schooling. Until that supervisor vanished and we would all again be loose, with no way to eat.
So we had to grow up fast and find ways to survive.
Don’t talk to strangers? Well they were the only ones who would help us with money to eat.
Don’t steal. That was a suppressive act. We did steal food for a while from local grocery stores but we got caught by police then there would be another round of “rounding up the kids” to get us under control.
Parents were too busy in the Sea Org, saving the world, to keep track of us kids.
It was a vicious cycle that went on for years.
