Why is $cientology ALWAYS asking for your money?
Thursday mornings are the WORST when you are on staff or in the Sea Org. The end of the week is at 2pm on Thursdays, every week.
There is a mad rush to get in every possible statistic, which includes money in, course completions, new people signed up for Scn services, etc.
Anyone who has experienced Scientology first hand probably already knows what I am about to talk about.
When Thursday at 2 comes and goes, it is then time to turn in your final numbers. And it’s expected that you have a higher number than the week before, Thursday at 2 pm.
Everything starts over. After 2pm, all statistics are at zero and you now have to a week to work your magic to improve from the week before.
Now, with the money statistic, called “Gross Income”, it’s slightly different.
As soon as the week ends (Thurs 2pm), and the stats are all reported, there is a Financial Planning meeting that determines how the money will be spent. There are certain automatic expenses that come right off the top, and they are a percentage. A certain percentage goes back to the bookstore to restock books, a certain percentage ALWAYS gets sent to management, and certain percentage is set aside for general liability and other bank accounts.
Once you have all your “auto-deductions” off the top, the remaining money can be designated for certain areas. The Financial Planning meeting is supposed to figure that out.
Often because of all the money taken off the top (let’s say for CC, which regularly made 250K per week when I was there), a large chunk of that would be gone before anyone could even look at what PO’s were submitted.
Money was needed for food, so that was a large expense that came off the already quickly dwindling funds.
I was never part of Financial Planning, but you could hear the screams at the meeting of people demanding money for this or that.
The short version: there was never ever enough money to cover everything. At CC, the Commanding Officer Mr. Petit ALWAYS put up a fight to make sure the staff got paid every week. Believe me, in most orgs, staff pay was last on the list and often nothing was left.
So in short, the money that came in that week was GONE by the end of FP meeting.
This is every org, all the time.
There is no “extra” money anywhere. It’s all spent.
So by Friday morning the org was broke again.
And if the staff wanted to eat or get paid, they had to do it all over again…. Get in another 250K every week. Just to eat, and get their meager $50 petty cash pay.
So even though you, as a public, just gave the org $25k on Weds, it’s gone. And they need more.
Where does all the money go?
Management orgs.
It’s crazy to think how much money is buried away in bank accounts…. In the billions? And yet the staff have meager wages and food.
That is how Hubbard set it up. Evil genius? Greedy bastard?
You tell me.
